and posters with odd numbers on Tuesday.
Other Poster Viewing Times
To provide ample time for viewing, posters will be available at all times of the conference. Attendees are encouraged to use
the lunch break, coffee breaks, evenings, etc. to visit posters.
Poster Presentation Session
On Friday morning there will be a 90-min session devoted to highlighting approximately 12 posters that will be selected by members
of the program committee for short presentation and discussion. If your poster is selected, you will be notified by Thursday noon and
asked to prepare a 5 minute overhead or PowerPoint summary of your poster.
17th ISPL - Poster Guidelines
Poster Dimensions
All posters must fit into a space that is 1 m wide x 1.2 m high
Poster Set-up, Presentation and Removal
Set-up is on Sunday, July 16 after 5:00 PM, or Monday morning
All posters will remain displayed throughout the meeting
Removal of posters is on Friday, July 21 by 6 PM
Poster Guidelines
Posters should be easily read from a distance of 2 to 3 meters.
TITLE HEADINGS - at least 2 cm high (60 points).
MAIN TEXT - at least 1 cm high (28 points).
Title of presentation and full name of author(s) centered across the top.
Underline the name of the presenter. If you include a photograph of yourself on your poster, it will help viewers find you to ask questions.
Objectives - upper left corner.
Conclusions - upper right corner (this is better location than at the bottom because it is more visible. Most viewers will read conclusions first).
The abstract should not be repeated on the poster.
The most common mistake in poster preparation is to include too much text. Your presentation will be much more effective if you keep the total number of words below 1000.
Illustrations
Limit number of data points in tables and graphs and use illustrations only to convey main points clearly and simply. Use color to
distinguish lines/data and be consistent with color use between different figures (e.g. control is always in black). Add labels on
graphs and figures so reader does not need to refer to figure legend.
Handouts
Copies of posters as a miniature are strongly encouraged. Please bring ~50 copies for this purpose. We will provide a folder so that
these copies can be attached to the poster board. Handouts will also be used to help choose posters for the poster presentation session on Friday.
